Allergy

The word “Allergy” was coined in 1906 by Clemens E. von Pirquet (1874-1929), Austrian pediatrician, from the combination of 2 Greek words : ALLOS + ERGON. Allos means : “other, different, strange”; Ergon means “activity”.

In other words, allergy is an activity – a bad one – of the immune system, caused by an allergen such as: pollen, dust, dog hair or food..etc
